Mancheter United striker Carlos Tevez says he hopes to agree terms on a permanent deal at Old Trafford before the end of the season.
The 24-year-old Argentine signed a two-year loan deal in August 2007 from West Ham although his registration is with the sports investment firm MSI.
"From the moment I came here I wanted to sign a longer contract," said Tevez.
"It would be wonderful if the chairman put a long term contract on the table for me. I would sign it without doubt."
The Argentina international scored 19 goals in 48 matches last season to help the Red Devils win the Premier League and Champions League.
And United boss Sir Alex Ferguson expects him to remain at Old Trafford beyond the summer of 2009, when his loan deal expires.
"There's no doubt in my mind that he will be here next season after signing a contract," insisted Ferguson.
"As I understand it, it (a permanent deal) will happen at the end of the season."
Tevez could cost United in the region of £32m, eclipsing the £30.75m paid to Tottenham Hotspur for Dimitar Berbatov in August.
I think £32 million for Tevez is too much. Maybe a £20 million bid for Huntelaar would be much better. The £10++ million saved can be used to improve the squad further.
Tevez arrived at Old Trafford last year amid some controversy, with
United taking the Argentine forward on loan from a third party yet
avoiding the legal problems West Ham endured after signing him the year
before.
The 24-year-old has flourished in the North West,
forging a brilliant understanding with Wayne Rooney and Cristiano
Ronaldo and ending his second season in England with 19 goals and a
bucketload of assists.
Hence, Sir Alex Ferguson is eager to tie
up a permanent deal for the former Corinthians man, even though Media
Sports Investment (Tevez's owners) are thought to be demanding around
£34million.
And the Albicelestes star is delighted at the
prospect of inking a long-term contract with the Red Devils, insisting
he wants to remain with the club for the rest of his career.
Tevez told The Sun: “I cannot ever imagine leaving Manchester.
“I am in the perfect situation. My family is settled and very happy in England and my relationship with the club is perfect.
“Patrice
Evra is my closest friend but the feeling I get from all the players is
something I’ve not experienced before. I want to get the contract
sorted and play for United for the rest of my career.”
I can't imagine him going back to west ham haha!

Maybe his mindset changed already? And now he wants to join Boca after his contract here expires?
