UCL - Manchester United vs Villarreal

The striker has not recovered fully from a thigh injury in time and
coach Manuel Pellegrini has chosen not to push him into action ahead of
schedule.
Manchester United signed the Rossi from Parma's youth
side in 2004 and great things were expected of him after he impressed
during loan spells with Newcastle United and Parma.
But last
summer, the now 21-year-old goalscorer opted to move to Villarreal on a
permanent basis and played 27 games for the Spanish league club last
term.
Nihat Kahveci is also out as he continues on his comeback
trail after undergoing surgery for an injury sustained at Euro 2008
with Turkey.
The forward watched the Yellow Submarine's victory
against Deportivo at the weekend from the stands in El Madrigal and
will be a spectator for the game at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
One
other surprise omission is Jozy Altidore, who came on and showed that
he could be a very god signing on Sunday, after he was left out on
technical grounds.
Diego López, Viera, Javi Venta, Gonzalo, Codín, Cygan, Angel,
Capdevila, Fuentes, Marcos Senna, Edmilson, Eguren, Pires, Santi
Cazorla, Mati Fernández, Ibagaza, Bruno, Cani, Guille Franco, Llorente

Michael Carrick looks certain to miss Manchester United's Champions League clash with Villarreal - but Cristiano Ronaldo could be on the bench.
England midfielder Carrick was a major doubt anyway after limping out of Saturday's Premier League defeat at Liverpool with an ankle injury.
The fact he was not on the training ground as United were put through their paces in front of Sir Alex Ferguson merely appeared to confirm the former Tottenham man's inevitable absence against the Spaniards.
Dimitar Berbatov's non-appearance was more of a surprise, however.
The Bulgarian striker took a knock at Anfield but did complete the full 90 minutes and was expected to be part of Ferguson's squad for their first Champions League game since beating Chelsea in a penalty shoot-out to lift the trophy in Moscow last May.
There has been no word on whether the 27-year-old has a chance of being fit, although Ferguson will no doubt hope he is.
However if Berbatov is missing, at least United should have Angolan forward Manucho available.
Manucho has recovered from a broken metatarsal and with his work permit also secure is now looking to break into the first-team picture.
Ronaldo is also expected to be on the substitutes' bench.
The prospective World Footballer of the Year was tipped for a comeback by Ferguson this week following news of a speedier than expected recovery.
Ronaldo will almost certainly start on the bench for a game which sees Paul Scholes suspended due to his sending-off in the UEFA Super Cup encounter with Zenit St Petersburg in Monaco last month.
The naturalised Spaniard stated that he was preparing to swap
Villarreal for Manchester in the summer of 2006, but the clubs could
not trash out a fee.
At that stage, Senna was 30 years old and had only one year on his
existing contract but his club were asking in excess of €10million in a
transfer fee.
However, Sir Alex Ferguson's side were prepared to offer only €3million.
As it was, Senna was left in limbo as United wrapped a deal up for Michael Carrick from Tottenham Hotpur.
Senna has risen to prominence since then, most notably during the
summer's European Championships with Spain, and played a major part in
securing glory for the side.
He told the Sun ahead of the Old Trafford clash: "I came very, very close to signing [for Manchester United].
"Sir Alex Ferguson talked to my agent and everything was done — then they
suddenly signed Carrick."
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Dimitar Berbatov could miss Wednesday's Champions League tie with Villarreal but Cristiano Ronaldo will be involved at some point.
The Bulgaria international picked up a knock on a knee at Anfield during his debut but continued after receiving treatment on the sidelines.
Ronaldo has been out since undergoing an ankle operation but is pencilled in for a place on the bench unless Ferguson decides to throw him in from the start at late notice.
"Berbatov is very doubtful for tomorrow with a knee injury," said Ferguson. "There are one or two other bumps and bruises.
"Wes Brown’s got a knee injury - hopefully he'll be okay. We’ve got a strong squad so we should be okay in terms of putting out a good team.
"[Patrice] Evra felt sick during the game but he’s okay. Berbatov came off for treatment and there’s a little bit of swelling around the knee. We’re working hard on that but will we run out of time? We’ll see."
Ronaldo is set for his long-awaited return after failing to see a move to Real Madrid materialise over the summer.
"He’ll certainly he involved," said the Scot. "Whether we start him is irrespective of other players. It’s more likely he’ll start on the bench."
Match starts at 2:45 am...

Thanks, i threw 5 bucks on MU to win 2-1 which is possible the way i see it.
1. When the two sides met in the Champions League group stage three seasons ago both games finished as goalless draws.
2. Manchester United have won just one of their five matches so far this season, drawing two, and are yet to lose at home.
3. And the Red Devils went unbeaten throughout last season’s competition, a run of 13 games.
4. Villarreal are unbeaten this season and have gone eight games since their last loss.
5. The Spanish side drew four of their six group matches the last time they were in the Champions League.
More important betting information
» None of Villarreal’s last ten games have featured over 2.5 goals.
» Only two of Manchester United’s last seven games have seen more than 2.5 goals - their last two fixtures against Zenit and Liverpool.
» However none of Manchester United’s last eight Champions League games featured more than two goals.
» Eight of the eleven players that started this fixture three years ago for Manchester United are still at the club now.
I take them to win 3 - 0
