Former Manchester United striker Giuseppe Rossi reckons facing his old club at Old Trafford in the Champions League will be ‘special’.
The Villarreal star failed to impose himself as a United player, but blossomed in La Liga last term, scoring 11 goals for the Yellow Submarines.
The 21-year-old Italy Under-21 international is delighted to face Sir Alex Ferguson’s team in the Champions League next week, and feelss playing at Old Trafford will be a special occasion.
Rossi is hopeful he will be involved in the game, as he picked up a knock 10 days ago and is not training with his team-mates for the moment.
“The game against Manchester [United] will be a great encounter against the best team in the world and for me it’s going to be special for having played there,” Rossi told EFE.
“Villarreal can’t wait to play such a game.”
Rossi is hopeful he will be back to action at the weekend for the game against Deportivo La Coruna.
“A few days are remaining before the game and I’m hopeful I can feature,” he added. “I feel good and I’m slowly recovering my best form.
“Our squad is very short at the moment; as a consequence I would help the team a lot (if I played).”
