Park Ji-sung is due to return to training with Manchester United next week after recovering from a knee injury.
The South Korea midfielder had hoped to represent his country in the Olympics but United were less keen on the idea after he injured himself whilst on international duty in the close season.
Sir Alex Ferguson surprisingly left Park out of the Champions League final despite his exertions in the semi-finals with Barcelona but the popular ex-PSV Eindhoven wide man is likely to have an important role to play in the upcoming season.
"I need probably one more week, I'm nearly there," Park revealed to MUTV when asked about his return to training.
"I'm looking forward to the season because last season I missed six months.
"I want to play more than last season and show my ability on the pitch. Then maybe I will get more chances."
Meanwhile, Dimitar Berbatov trained with Tottenham on Wednesday amid intense speculation in the press that he will join United before the weekend.
