Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is reported to be considering a raid on Valencia for wing wizard David Silva.
Ferguson is cock-a-hoop after fending off interest from Real Madrid in Cristiano Ronaldo and said on Friday that he was ready to add to his attacking options next week.
It has been widely reported that Tottenham forward Dimitar Berbatov is his target, but the Scot hinted that he was considering a number of options.
”We are looking at some options at the moment – three or four different options about the striker department which we hope will come to a happy conclusion,” said Ferguson.
And reports in Spain claim winger Silva has crossed his radar.
Valencia have stated their intention to keep hold of striker David Villa and winger Silva, but they are mired in financial trouble and reports suggest they may cash in if a bid of €25 million (£19.5m) is tabled.
Barcelona are hopeful of signing Silva next summer, but a sizeable offer in the current window could lead to the Che accepting a deal.
A centre forward is a priority for Ferguson, but Cristiano Ronaldo was the club’s top scorer last season from out wide and although Silva is best known as a winger, he is comfortable playing in behind a striker.
It is debateable as to whether Ferguson would have the funds to push through deals for Berbatov and Silva, but he is clearly flexing his muscles in the final few weeks of the transfer window.

Silva can play across the midfield. But is best suited on the left or right, although he loves to cut inside to penetrate defences. He's quick, skillful, creative, he can cross although his finishing is not very good. But he is very small. Lack physique.
Can buy him if fergie converts Ron to a striker effectively.

He looks like the ideal Giggsy replacement to me, with his preference to the left foot.
And at least theres one thing for sure if MU gets him: He won't be itching to play in the Spanish league in the near future.
