CRISTIANO RONALDO has pledged another season to Manchester United.
The Portugal winger has been linked with Real Madrid throughout the summer, with the Spanish club maintaining their interest even though United repeatedly stressed Ronaldo would not be sold.
In an interview to be published in Portugal tomorrow, Ronaldo repeated his intentions to play for Real Madrid but also confirmed he will stay with United for another season at least.
He said: “Sir Alex Ferguson heard my arguments, I heard his and, in fact, it was settled that the best for both parties would be for me to stay.
“Therefore, I can confirm that, next season, I will play for Manchester United.
“Before rumours emerge saying that I will play against my will, I want to make this clear - whoever says or writes that is lying.
“I will play for Manchester with all my heart and soul. I will fight and honour that shirt with the same commitment and dedication as always.”
Ronaldo has also taken the blame for the transfer saga, which lasted for several months and damaged United’s relationship with Real.
He continued: “I was responsible for all this controversy.
“I was the one who publicly expressed my desire to go to Real Madrid. I ended up being, even involuntarily, responsible for the poor relationship between the two clubs.”
But he repeated that his dream of playing for Real remains and has not closed the door on a future move to the Spanish giants.
He explained: “I knew Real Madrid were interested in signing me and that they had allegedly made a very high offer to Manchester United.
“My desire was, for some time, that Manchester had accepted my transfer to Madrid.
“Saying otherwise would be to trick people and my own consciousness.”

Its only his fault for having an interest to join Real but Inventing the sort of ridiculous kind of news over the last 2 months? Did you even read the kind of news over the past 2 months... Like saying Fergie would resign if he was sold, The Glazers were interested to cash in on him cos the money was too good for them to resist, the things Calderon was assumed to have said which he later denies saying...This is the Press fault...

“Only God knows the future”, I don't find anything wrong with this... And I think its more like "Its my boyhood dream to play for Real Madrid" rather than “I want to leave”, “I want to play for Real” These are like I have said the Spanish Press made up... Just like Fergie would resign if he was sold or The Glazers needed the money to clear their debts and will sell... And of course Calderon saying all those things that he claim he did not or "Unnamed Real Source" going on about it... These are created by the Spanish Press... -

Disappointed Schuster accepts Ron's decision
Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster believes it is a 'shame' that Cristiano Ronaldo has decided to stay in England, but has urged his club to put the matter behind them and focus on the squad already in place.The Spanish champions have been involved in a persistent and very public pursuit of Manchester United star Ronaldo all summer. At one point United even reported Real to FIFA, such was their annoyance with officials at the Bernabeu.
However, the affair came to an end on Wednesday with Ronaldo announcing he is set to stay with the Premier League and European Champions for one more season at least.
'You have to respect his decision,' admitted Schuster. 'He was free to do what he wanted and it's a shame that he isn't coming to us because he's a player who would really have improved this great group.
'But hey, it doesn't matter. We've got a great group to get started on an important league campaign and fight for all the objectives we've set. 'It's a decision we have to accept.'

Leave Schuster to clean up his backside... I think Real fans must be very red face and angry now... They tried all they could and still fail...
They always had things their way... Anelka, Figo, Zidane, Fat Ronaldo, Robinho, Robben... All of these their clubs didn't want to sell but when Real came to disturb them, the club had no choice...
I think Gunners, Pool and Chelsea fans must be very disappointed with this news also... Scolari even tried while he was still Portugal's coach and about to be announced as Chelsea's new manager with his what... miss the bus or train and it may not come again in this lifetime thing...
There is only one club that can defend against Real Madrid and its United...
