Spanish side Almeria have declared victory in the race to sign Argentina's latest teenage sensation Pablo Piatti.
A number of top European clubs were tracking the top-rated 19-year-old, so in the end it was somewhat of a surprise that he opted for the Andalucian minnows.
Almeira were clearly hell-bent on signing the Estudiantes striker, however, as he was handed a seven-year deal which is reported to be the most expensive in the club's history.
“Piatti becoming UD Almeria’s record signing is not vain, as the club say that Juventus and Manchester United wanted to secure the Argentinian’s services as well,” read a statement on Almeira's official website.
Juventus were long thought to be front-runners for the slinky striker, who is similar in style and build to Barcelona prodigy Lionel Messi. -
