Mikael Silvestre hesitates between staying at Manchester United and being awarded a testimonial, and returning to France to play for the ambitious Bordeaux, according to president Jean-Louis Triaud.
Bordeaux have ‘the licence to dream’ of making the former France international return to his country, after nine years spent at Old Trafford.
Triaud has revealed that Silvestre is tempted by Les Girondins’ challenge, but money and prestige are also part of his reflection.
The possibility of missing the chance to play a testimonial in the Theatre of Dreams could make the defender snub Les Girondins’ offer, but the fact his friend and former United player Laurent Blanc manages the club could influence him.
“Not just anybody can’t afford to have him, and he hesitates to sacrifice his 10th year of contract with Manchester United that gives him the right to have a testimonial whose benefits would be paid to him,” Triaud told Sud-Ouest.
“But Laurent Blanc knows him well, but he knows Alex Ferguson well as well, so…”
