MANCHESTER UNITED have reported Real Madrid to FIFA over their pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo.
9 Jun 2008
The Red Devils are convinced the £75million-rated superstar is the victim of a Real dirty-tricks campaign.
And after further reports from the Madrid camp over the weekend, United have finally lost patience.
A club statement said: "On 27 May, Manchester United made clear its intention to report Real Madrid to FIFA if it continued to involve itself in the future of Cristiano Ronaldo.
"Unfortunately, Real Madrid has not kept its own counsel and the club feels it has no alternative but to make a formal complaint to the world governing body, which it has done today.
"The precise content and nature will remain confidential."
Real president Ramon Calderon and boss Bernd Schuster have publicly admitted their desire for Ronaldo to move to Spain.
Even their players have got in on the act with ex-United star Ruud Van Nistelrooy the latest to praise the Portuguese ace.
A FIFA spokesman said: "I can confirm that we have received an official request from Manchester United to look into the matter.
"We have only just received the documents so we need some time to analyse them before we can make any decision."
