Evra set for contract talks
Patrice Evra has revealed that he will have another meeting over a new Manchester United deal next week.
The Frenchman has just one year left to run on his current contract and he admits there is a lot of interest in him after an impressive season.
He has been waiting for his future to be sorted out for some time and is now set to discuss an extension with club officials.
"The negotiations have lasted a little. We will have a new meeting on May 29," Evra said in L'Equipe.
"Now it is up to the club, who know what we have already agreed. We will see.
"A lot of clubs are attracted to me. It is quite logical as I did a lot on the pitch.
"Anyway, I hope we will find a solution as soon as possible."
Evra has established himself into
one of the best left backs in Europe since joining the Premiership champions
from Monaco
in January 2006.
However the Frenchman’s contract at Old Trafford runs out next year, and talks
over a new deal have not gone well.
Le Parisien says that Milan are ready to offer
the 27-year-old a lucrative contract in the next few weeks, with Evra
apparently asking for €2.75m per year.
The San Siro giants are not the
only Italian club to have been linked with Evra, as Juventus and Inter are also
said to be watching the player’s situation closely.
Evra spent two seasons in Italy at the beginning of his career, playing for Marsala in 1998/99 and Monza the following campaign, before moving back to his adopted homeland of France to join Nice.
