Rio Ferdinand’s recent stellar performances haven’t gone
unnoticed by United fans, who have voted him ManUtd.com’s April Player
of the Month.
Ferdinand was the poll’s clear winner, gaining 40 per cent of almost 10,000 online votes.
The
defender’s solid displays, particularly in the Reds’ European ties
against AS Roma and FC Barcelona, earned Rio glowing praise from his
manager and team-mates. Now fans have also paid tribute to Ferdinand’s
mighty efforts.
Cristiano Ronaldo, who netted three times during
April, was a distant second (18 per cent), followed closely by Owen
Hargreaves and Carlos Tevez, who both polled 14 per cent of the vote
each.
Meanwhile, Paul Scholes’ spectacular winner against
Barcelona at Old Trafford was the runaway winner of April’s Goal of the
Month poll.
It was no surprise that Scholesy’s scorching half-volley garnered an impressive 74 per cent of the vote.
