Ryan Giggs could break Sir Bobby Charlton's all-time appearance record for Manchester United after doubts over one of the Old Trafford legend's games from the 1960s.
As it stands, Giggs can equal Charlton's tally of 759 club matches if he plays in Barclays Premier League games against West Ham and Wigan and the Champions League Final against Chelsea in Moscow.
But club officials are looking at Charlton's record, amid suggestions he may have missed an FA Cup tie in January 1962 with 'flu.
United may even make an announcement before today's game against West Ham at Old Trafford and that would leave the way clear for Giggs to claim the record in Russia.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said: "I'm sure Ryan will be involved in our last three games. It would certainly be an achievement for him to match or beat Bobby's record.
"It's something very few players will do at this club. It's an incredible span of almost 20 years that we're talking about.
"I don't think Bobby ever missed a game with injury during his playing days with United, which is remarkable.
"The difference between now and then is squad rotation, which is something Ryan has had to contend with."
They should just leave Sir Bobby's record alone la..Giggs can wait till next season.
Salute Ryan Giggs!!
