Manchester United will reportedly be subjected to a Football Association investigation after allegations of betting irregularities.
It is claimed that the Premier League leaders are under scrutiny following bets made between Sir Alex Ferguson and three of his players on France’s Euro 2008 qualifiers against Scotland.
United midfielder Darren Fletcher is reported to have said that Ferguson made bets with Patrice Evra, Mikael Silvestre and Louis Saha and it has been suggested that the wagers may contravene rules on gambling in the game.
Fletcher reportedly said: “He was happy when Scotland beat France. He won a bit of money because he was making bets with all the French lads. We beat them twice.”
An FA spokesman has told The Sun: “We will take action against participants in our leagues found to be in breach of regulations – if it is proved they bet on a match they were involved in or could potentially influence.
“We will fully investigate quotes made by Darren Fletcher.
“The comments seem to suggest United players made bets with Sir Alex on an international match they were playing in.
“This matter may also be highlighted to Fifa, as the games in question were international matches, and Uefa, as the tournament organisers.”
FIFA, is it run by the old dumb blatter, who speaks thru his "arse"-nal??
