United may be embroiled in a fascinating climax to the current campaign, but Sir Alex Ferguson is already planning to strengthen his squad for next season.
The United manager has assembled a squad of sufficient strength in depth to challenge for the Premier League and Champions League this term, but he has earmarked areas which need further reinforcements.
"I don't need to spend, but I will," Sir Alex is quoted as saying in the News of the World. "I think there is an area where we are short and we can stock up on that a bit.
"It is not easy getting the best players here. But we have to because when you have a lot of quality in your squad you have to be absolutely correct on who you bring in.
"A player has a chance to come to a club like United and he would say 'that's my challenge to be in the team.' That's what good players do."
Sir Alex brought in Owen Hargreaves, Carlos Tevez, Anderson and Nani last summer and, after the quartet's unquestionable success this season, the Scot admits he will have one eye on the future when he re-enters the transfer market.
"I don't think I will bring in as many as last season and if we buy players it will probably be young ones," he said. "This year Tevez, Hargreaves, Nani and Anderson have been really fantastic for us. Those four players have made a big contribution to our season."

if playing into the finals of the cl league would already generate certain extra cash, for a win in both cl final and the premiere title would also generate extra cash incentives bonus from its major sponsers.. AIG..etc..

last season, MUFC got the title, UCL semis.. and they got a few players.
I do know it is not paid up front but spread over so effectively it was not a big outlay.
Given this season, MUFC got a high chance of repeating what they achieve, I think they can afford to sign more players.
And given fact, EURO08 is a good hunting ground, I think the scouts are going to work overtime.
Key -> We surely need to replace Saha..
And train the subs? do you mean the youth team? or 2nd team? -
What he means is that his gonna offload Saha and buy Benzema next season. Cheers.

actually, benzema is good or the guy from holland?
I saw benzema during the lyon game, he tends to drift like Rooney leh. So I am unsure leh..
but no deny, he got power and physique.. the way he brushes past Vidic and Rio, reminds me of drogba..

the guy from holland is klaus jan huntelaar and his style is similar to van nistelrooy, just that huntelaar's youngerhe is tall too, so he would be great for headers
somemore he top scorer in holland league now
but i would like to see both benz and huntelaar at united though it seems like its impossible coz united would most probably only choose betn one of them

This Dutch guy Chelsea want already...
Lets see, They may need a right back, a Striker and who knows, maybe another midfielder if Scholes cannot continue anymore... and Giggs... staying there just for his record but won't be very effective come next season...

lets say if scholes goes ..we will hav carrick anderson hargreaves...left...nt bad what...giggs gone we hav park and nani..which means we will hav park nani and ronaldo as wingers...hargreaves can almost play anywhere now -.-...striker off load saha..and buy benzema since he is jus 20 ..the dutch guy is 24 ? and the defence we cannot always rely on oshea brown and nevile...so we need to get another defender

i think the priority would be a right back, center back and a left back.. our midified i feel is pretty sufficient enough if fletcher and park performs when their called up..maybe a striker if we can offload saha.. hes being a free loader for a long time oredi..

I think this is just a way to fend off suitors for Benzema, but ultimately if a too-good-to-refuse deal comes in, Lyon would accept most likely. But that would be a waste of money, SAF should spend on defence, Man U's defence not getting any younger...even though there are not many world-class yet young defenders out there..just my views :)
If SAF sells Saha, how much can they get, i wonder? Not much maybe...

I don't think this benzema would make a good buy cos he is just ok i feel... Saw how he couldn't get anything in the second leg... He was totally marked out by Rio and Vidic... Look for someone else pls..

i thought this guy is happy where he is and doesn't plan on moving anywhere at the moment? hes a pretty down to earth fella if i am not wrong.. although he's footwork on the field tells otherwise :D
