Fergie fielded a weakened side against Coventry, shed a few crocodile tears when his team were knocked out and then accepted an invitation for a nice break in Dubai during semi-final week, which probably earned United more money than if they had actually won the cup.
In contrast, Wenger puts out his Under-9s and believes they can actually win the competition. Having declared that he would never field first-team players again after the debacle of last season, he then used Cesc Fabregas and Alexander Hleb against Tottenham in midweek.
And what was the point of throwing on Emmanuel Adebayor when 4-0 down? Reaching last year's final, with its cost of injuries and a suspension to Adebayor, ruined Arsenal's season and eight days later they were out of everything. -
