Sunderland boss Roy Keane has returned to former club Manchester United in his search for new faces to boost their relegation battle
Keane has agreed a £1.5m deal for full back Phil Bardsley, who has just finished a three month loan spell with Sheffield United and returned to Old Trafford after the derby with Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend.
The Blades were keen to make the deal permanent but the 22-year-old jumped at the chance to stay in the Premiership and today travelled to the north-east for talks with Keane and undergo a medical.
Bardsley made his first Premier League start for United against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in 2005 where he was part of a 3-1 winning side.
