Newcastle launching £18M bid for Man Utd's Carrick

Newcastle United are ready to break the bank to lure Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick back home.
The Daily Star Sunday says Geordie Carrick is top of Kevin Keegan's shopping list and Toon owner Mike Ashley is willing to part with £18 million to land the Wallsend graduate.

18m is loss-making. Doesnt even cover his transfer fee from spurs.
Transfer fee + inflation + crucial rotation player. I say at least 50% higher fees before will there be any form of consideration. -
to be fair, Carrick is good, but comparing to Keano, Scholes or even earlier, Robson, Strachan, he is average..
compared to what other top EPL teams MIDFIELD, in Gerrard, Lampard, Fabregas, it would seems that our Midfield is not as 'strong'.
Since Scholes' injury, MUFC is depending less and less on the AM (attacking midfield) to score but instead more of protecting the backline and pushing the balls to either Ronaldo or Rooney. I think their key is not to loose too many balls and push it up to the forward lines.
Thus, when we see Anderson running solo, it felt refreshing..
how to say this? hmmmm...
Like how Keano pulled the entire team in that Juventus game in 99 when MUFC was facing elimination in the UCL...I simply don't see Carrick doing that.
(shall not judge anderson too much cause apparently he got tons of potential)
If carrick is deemed as Scholes' successor, I would be worried.
bottomline, he is good, but maybe he is of a different breed, and like a Butt, in the end, he may be better off leaving..
