Henrik Larsson poised for United return

Sir Alex Ferguson is poised to send out an SOS to Henrik Larsson after learning Spurs will not consider letting Dimitar Berbatov leave in January for less than £20million.
United need reliable cover for main strikers Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez and, despite being 36, Larsson – the leading scorer in the UEFA Cup this season – has shown he still retains the fitness and quality that made him one of the most respected strikers in Europe.
His contract with home-town club Helsingborgs has run out and he is understood to be looking for a final hurrah in England – or in Scotland where he was a huge favourite with Celtic.
Larsson scored three goals in 13 appearances after joining United on January 1. But he rejected pleas to stay to the end of the season in order to return home for the start of the Swedish campaign.
This time Ferguson would hope to keep him until May, although the striker would not be eligible to play in the Champions League. -

Fergie rules out move for Henrik Larsson
The veteran Swede was a spectacular success after joining United on a short-term loan 12 months ago, scoring three goals in 13 appearances at a time when Ferguson was struggling for numbers.
But Ferguson, who indicated he would resist the temptation to bring in any new faces during a recent interview with the official United magazine, will not be making a move for the 36-year-old Celtic great.
"Henrik promised his family back then he would go home," said Ferguson.
"He honoured it, and we honoured it. It would be an interesting one, obviously - but I don't think so.
"At this time of year, it is always difficult to get the players you would like to get.
"You look at the criteria of playing in European football. That is not easy. It eliminates a lot of players, so I am still of the same opinion as I was before." -
