Nemanja Vidic says he would be honoured if he was offered the captain's armband at Manchester United.
The Serbian hardman, 26, was skipper in the second half of the Red Devils' clash with Dynamo Kiev last month.
And he has since been touted as a future captain of the Premier League champions.
But, despite having a taste of the role, Vidic has revealed he does not expect to lead United in the near future.
He said: "If it happens I'd be delighted, especially at this club but it's not something I have my sights on.
"Being captain means a lot to you and it's a great honour.
"I just play my game and whether I'm captain or not doesn't change what I do on the pitch."
Vidic has also hailed United's veteran duo Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs.
The giant defender said: "I used to watch Giggsy and Scholesy and now I play with them every day. It's a great feeling.
"Giggsy is just another person – a very professional player, but also just a person and a friend.
"Scholesy loves football and he loves having the ball at his feet.
"He takes a lot of enjoyment from playing passes, scoring goals and even making tackles."
