Manchester United defender Gerard Pique is a target for Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window.
Spanish club Atletico Madrid want to sign the Spanish under-20 captain on loan until next summer - and then try to get him permanently.
Pique, who scored last night, has a deal until 2009 and has yet to receive a new contract offer and his representatives believe the club may sell. -

Fergie vows to keep Pique
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has ruled out letting Gerard Pique leave Old Trafford.
The Spanish defender has been linked with a move way from United when the transfer window reopens in January, with Atletico Madrid the latest club credited with an interest in the highly-rated stopper.
"I am not surprised people are saying they are interested in him," said Ferguson.
"Zaragoza tried to buy him in the summer. They offered a lot of money for him. But no. The boy's future is here.
"I have no fears for him. The course we have set is a good one and there is absolutely no intention of letting him go."
Ferguson believes Pique understands that he will have to wait for his chance at Old Trafford, but is confident the young Spaniard will make his mark at the club.
"Gerard understands perfectly well the form of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic, who are tremendous players, has been so good, he is going to have to wait a bit," added Ferguson.
"But waiting is not a problem for a 20-year-old. He will have many opportunities to play when I need to rest defenders and I have the great option of being able to play him in midfield or at right-back." -
Pique's sale is definitely a no-go, unless Fergie is out of his mind or Pique wants to leave.

Pique: I won't quit Red Devils
Gerard Pique hopes his patience will eventually be rewarded at Manchester United after insisting he has "no intention" of leaving the club.
The 20-year-old was loaned out to Real Zaragoza last season and could easily have joined them on a permanent basis had Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson not rebuffed a substantial bid.
Pique himself is only too happy to stay at Old Trafford, looking on the loan spell in his homeland last season as just part of his learning curve.
"When I went on loan last year what I wanted was experience. It was good for me, and now I am am getting experience here - and I am happy," said the Spain Under-21s international.
"You have to think 'it is Manchester United' and they are one of the best teams in the world'.
"The players that are here have a lot of quality, and it is very difficult to break through. You have to be patient.
"I want to play more games, but the boss decides."
