Manchester United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to demolish a £1.8m 50-year-old cottage to build a Scandinavian-style ‘eco-pad' in Knutsford in Cheshire.
The five-bedroom environmentally friendly house was designed by Manchester company Indigo and will be a glass and timber construction in render and stone with a slate roof.
Blueprints show plans to use ground source heat pumps and solar power to warm the pool, low volume flush systems on the toilets and heavy natural insulation. The plans were lodged with Macclesfield council after Solksjaer bought the property in August but the council is yet to approve or reject the application.
Norwegian Solskjaer, who retired from playing in August, has also included a games room and the option to add a detached swimming pool building in his plans.
