United have been tied into a new Bollywood movie called Goal, which is all about an Indian footballer inspired by the club.
Actor, John Abraham(pictured), plays the lead role. “It’s great to be associated with a club like Manchester United for our film,” he told The Times of India.
“I have been a die-hard soccer fan since childhood and I have been idolising Manchester United since then.”
The story revolves around a club facing closure unless they start winning games (a bit like the Indian Leeds then!). To seek inspiration, the manger takes the players to Manchester United where some lavish song and dance routines no doubt ensue.
ItÂ’s the first time that United have appeared in a Bollywood film and stars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney are said to be appearing in promotional clips.
