Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo admits that he would like to stay at the club for the foreseeable future, adding that Old Trafford feels like home.
After lighting up the Premier League last season, Portuguese winger Cristiano Ronaldo believes that United will be his home for many more years to come.
The 22-year-old signed a lucrative contract extension last term that will keep him a United player until 2012. With Barcelona and Real Madrid apparently interested in the star, Ronaldo insists that United is his ideal club.
"At the exact moment I put on the Red Devils shirt, I felt sure Manchester United was the ideal club for me, for my development as a player and a person," he said in his new book.
"Four years have passed since I first walked onto the Old Trafford pitch. Today I consider it one of my homes.
"Without a lie, I can declare that I feel immense pride and joy at representing this great world club.
"Here at Manchester United is where I feel happy. So much so that I have no problem in saying that I would like to stay here for many more years."
With nominations for Fifa World Player of the Year just around the corner, Ronaldo is undoubtedly a shoe-in, along with the ever-present Kaka, for at least a nomination.
The winger believes, as all media-trained footballers do, that although being recognised as an individual is flattering, team success takes precedence.
"To be nominated as the best footballer in the year would be a dream come true," he said."However, I do not live with that obsession. Whatever has to happen will happen naturally, as a consequence of my evolution.
"If Manchester United is doing well, I will do well; the greater the success of United, the greater the success of each of its players."
