Guessing the next Manchester United manager has been a national pastime for years. Now we can all add the name of another candidate — Jose Mourinho.
I've no doubt that when my friend, Sir Alex Ferguson, steps down — and I hope it's a long time away — Jose will be the first choice of the United board. After all, he has a proven track record in England, loves the country and the passion for football and, importantly, his family like living here.
I don't think Jose can go to another Premier League club immediately and will probably want to recharge his batteries. But down the line, I can't see how he could resist United.
He won't be the only candidate of course, everyone will want the job.
But while the fans may press for an ex-United player like Mark Hughes or Roy Keane, their CVs can't match Jose's.
And United will demand the best. -

er.. jose doesn;t like wing formations, but United has being playing their formation since its heydays.. and presentlyas well and it had worked...will we wanna see a change in that..?

Yes I agree. But football has changed over the years as well. Our formation do need to have a change at times too. The same logic - the academy cannot produce David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Neville brothers every year. It's the same. I have a feeling Mourinho will do Man U good. -
we've already tried 4-3-3 wif quiroz and it didn;t suit us, 4-5-1 wasn;t effective for us as well, i say with the current young squad, it seem for certain that we won;t be changing our wings formation any sooner for now. whether mourinho is good for us or not remains to be seen, i'll reserve that until he really comes to OT and produces results..Originally posted by itaji:Yes I agree. 4-5-1 was quite effective for us actually. 4-2-3-1 more like. Anw, Mourinho should be good for United. The only other managers I feel that are really suited for United would be Hiddink and possibly Juande Ramos. One manager whom I do admire is Arsene Wenger. But given that he's Arse-nal's gaffer now, I wouldn't want him in, barring a catastrophe. -
4-5-1 doesn't work for Man U now because Rooney cannot play alone upfront. Actually, Mourinho does or rather, did play Wing formation.
