Darren Fletcher is set to miss Scotland's Euro 2008 qualifier in Georgia next month because of the injury he sustained against France.
The Manchester United midfielder was on the receiving end of a bad challenge by Patrick Vieira during the early stages of Scotland's memorable win at the Parc des Princes, which forced Alex McLeish to replace him with Stephen Pearson.
As well as being a blow to his club, the injury is expected to prevent Fletcher being involved in the October 17 clash in Tbilisi.
The 23-year-old was already suspended for the home match against Ukraine on October 13, having been booked before being fouled by Vieira.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who was in Paris to see Scotland's famous win, confirmed: "Darren will be out for six weeks, which is a disappointment.
"It was a really bad, nasty challenge."
