its not that much before joining chelsea isnt it?Originally posted by Slipshade:Because Chelsea is the only one who could afford his 120K (?) weekly wages mah.
Now with the absence of Neville Man Utd's effective counter attack seems to lack a cutting edge though...Originally posted by dragg:chelsea's style of play is rather defensive.
i prefer man u and arsenal's style of attack.
his overlapping run is fantastic.Originally posted by lpx88:Now with the absence of Neville Man Utd's effective counter attack seems to lack a cutting edge though...
X2.His crosses are effective too. He's 1 of the few full backs ive seen that can attack as well as he defends..Most fullbacks can attack all they want..but can hardly do their defending job properly..Man Utd's gonna have a hard time finding some1 to replace him when he leavesOriginally posted by dragg:his overlapping run is fantastic.
then its even more queer that he moved to chelsea for that reason..if i recall..chelsea formation didn't forcasted much on wing plays prior to him joining them.. must be the russian oil that attracted him..Originally posted by lpx88:He once mentioned that he needs attacking fullbacks down the wings..I cant see why that suit his style but thats certainly the style man utd perfected
i wished man utd bought daniel alves. among all the players in man utd i think gary is the player that the club needs to find a replacement most urgently.Originally posted by lpx88:X2.His crosses are effective too. I haven seen Alves play yet...No doubt hes effective going forward, but bottom line is a full back is still a defender and his priority is to defend well. I have doubts whether Alves can defend as well as Neville..Man Neville and Evra wad 1 of the reasons why our attack was so fluid last season...Originally posted by Scuder1a:i wished man utd bought daniel alves. among all the players in man utd i think gary is the player that the club needs to find a replacement most urgently.
he's 35 already.
Since were on the subject of running, marauding fullbacks that can track back and defend as well, may I propose Philipp Lahm? Sticking to the German theme of the thread.Originally posted by lpx88:X2.His crosses are effective too. Lahm's attack is brilliant..but defending is woeful as well...Originally posted by Paradise Lost:Since were on the subject of running, marauding fullbacks that can track back and defend as well, may I propose Philipp Lahm? Sticking to the German theme of the thread.
Yeah yeah yeah. Everything is Chelsea's fault. It's the players' fault. It is the weather's fault. It is the food's fault. It is the fan's fault. Everyone and everything is at fault except for you. Happy now, Ballack?Originally posted by lpx88:U realise that last time at Bayern he would used to have active forwards that would track back for the ball and midfielders and wingbacks that would push forward for attacking formations...

Michael Ballack Blames Chelsea Style For His Lacklustre Show
Premiership champions Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and the Blues' summer signing German international midfielder Michael Ballack seem to be heading towards a clash with the former Bayern Munich star blaming the team’s style of play for his lackluster performance in England since his high-profile arrival.
Ballack has accused Mourinho's team of not playing to his strengths, The Mirror has reported.
The German midfielder, who is paid £130,000- per-week salary, has said the Blues give away the ball far too easily. He also rued less aerial service as compared to what he received with the Bundesliga giants.
Ballack has also hinted that many of Chelsea players play for themselves than the team. But for him, he added: "Success of the team is that what counts. But we have to learn to play together better."
The Gorlitz-born Ballack has been quoted as saying: "I would have hoped there would be more crosses in the air for me to score from. At Munich the tactics were similar but there were far more crosses."
