Sir Alex Ferguson has joined forces with Nike to ensure Wayne Rooney gets more protection from his boots.
Manchester United manager Ferguson is concerned that Rooney has suffered broken bones three times in his career.
Ferguson revealed that the England striker is ahead of schedule in his latest recovery following his injury against Reading and could be ready to play in three weeks.
But Ferguson has told his players to wear reinforced soles, while club medics are also looking to alter Rooney's running style to ease the pressure on his body.
Ferguson said: "We have looked into how the injury occurred and I don't think it had anything to do with his boots, but I have spoken with Nike and gone across all the issues with them.
"Nike aren't slow in addressing such things because they don't want their best client and our best player sidelined every year because he's broken a bone. So Nike have been efficient in that respect and are going through certain solutions." -
Nike juz doesnt want to admit it.. modern soccer boots are like Nike Free.. leg sure gone..

Do you all know that Nike don't own any of the manufacturing plants themselves, they outsourced everything and then just market and sell those low costs shoes at such overpriced rates? And they made lots of money and people still buy them because Nike has built a brand to influence the consumers perception about their products? I mean, say, if I ask you whether you want to buy ABC shoes or Nike shoes, most would say Nike coz better quality, but their shoes are made in 3rd world countries manufacturing plants similar to those of how some ABC shoes are made, and the way you thought like that is because of how Nike has developed their branding and influence your perception and your thoughts about these products. The same for LV and some other pricy things, they prey upon the consumers mind because that's the only way they can ask you to pay multiple times for items that you usually won't pay. Interesting eh?

Typically, for boot quality, adidas is the best. Nike has a history of shoes that fall apart. Rooney isn't the first person to complain about his boot, I remember Totti once changed his boots half-way through a half in one match, I think it was an international match.
He complained that the new ones hurt his feet like crazy and the old ones were better. Nike of course denied those claims. Oh well, we'll just way and see. Nike is a master at advertising, while adidas does have the quality to back theirs up. -

but for players that they sponsor, they do usually place a higher emphasis on the quality for them i believe. -

i still remember poor adidas one season. Robben and Cisse were endorsing their then new F50 boots series. Robben broke his left foot and Cisse broke his right. Not too good... still, F50s r v comfortable. Too bad they cost so mush here in aust. Bah. -

my friend got a pari of nike total 90 street soccer ones abt the same time i got my adidas predator street version. his is falling apart while mine is still quite ok...hmmm -
Lotto is still the best
Till now,i have up to 5 pairs of boots and soccer shoes. -
My dad still likes this ancient brand called Topper. I hv no idea how he finds them. He keeps saying that these old boots r the best. I'm like, yeah, sure.
At least he's slowly realising that adidas is pretty good too. -
