I think this has always been a common excuse for a bad start. So just how long is this "the season is long" gonna work? well i certainly dun expect man utd to win every match. that will never happen.
and yes they din perform. no excuses.
what i was saying was that over the course of the season, man utd will buck up and be near the top. i doubt they will be fighting a relegation battle. its not meant to be an excuse for anything....
and why are u so critical. afterall there were many flops in the team after 1999. im kind of used to it already. the players u mentioned are new and u cant expect them to gel immediately. furthermore they are young and not used to the EPL. ronaldo din perform till last season anyway. b4 that he was flashy but ineffective. -
I feel that mid-table teams usually play cautiously against the top teams, let alone the defending Champions. They can afford to play "9-0-1" or "9-1-0" formations and are happy with just one point. But title contenders are out for 3 points. Unless they can play 22 players a team, which they can't, so their resources will be spilt similar ways as Utd's. That's when we can really pit each team's creativity, skills and pace against one another.Originally posted by CKeer:That's the problem. United usually underperformed against top team. Arsenal did a double over them last season, O'Shea scored at the very last min against Liverpool and United can only manage a draw against Chelsea.

We Were Wasteful, Says Ferguson
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson claimed his could not fault his sides peformance other than their wastefulness in front of goal, as their worst start to a Premiership season continued with a significant 1-0 defeat to rivals City.
"We had enough chances and played fantastic football at times," claimed Ferguson.
However, he added: "We were just wasteful, we had so many opportunities to win it ourselves.
"I can't fault the performance - we completely dominated. But we should have sewn the game up."
Manchester United were without the suspended Cristiano Ronaldo and injured Wayne Rooney and Louis Saha, but Ferguson wasn't letting that become an excuse.
He said: "Of course you miss strikers but the number of chances we had and the amount of possession we should have won the game." -

Eriksson Admits City Were Lucky
"It's fantastic, it was a very difficult game and we were lucky as well," said the former England manager after the 1-0 win against United, who dominated the match but could not find a breakthrough.
"For possession of the ball and shots on target we'd have lost but the goal was what counted.
"Sometimes I wish we could keep the ball better but we won the game and three wins is very good."
He added: "I think they have been unlucky - they create so many chances but the season is very long and they will come back."
When asked if City could continue to compete at the top of the table, the Swede added: "I don't think anyone expects that.

I donÂ’t think the 1-0 loss to Man City is a shocking result. In fact, I expected at most another draw, though I would have liked Man Utd to bag all 3 points to kick-start their season after 2 very disappointing draws.
Man City had looked very good in their pre-season friendlies and Eriksson obviously knows what he is doing when he brought in so many unproven players into his revamped squad. Add to that the impressive form of Kasper Schmeichel, Elano, Geovanni and a very solid back four led by Dunne, I think they will make life very difficult for the top teams in the league this season.
As for Man Utd, they had to play against very tight defences in their opening 3 games so far and I think this trend will continue for the rest of the season. This is the price they have to pay for being the best attacking team in the league last season and they have to learn to cope with this. Somemore, I had this feeling that victories against sub-standard teams in their pre-season Far East trip have given the players a false sense of security that life in the new season would be smooth sailing. I just hope that this latest setback will finally wake them up.
I have been a Man Utd fan for 13 years and this is no doubt their worst start to a Premier League season, but I have seen them gone through more shitty patches than this. I just wish to urge calm among Man Utd supporters. Next SundayÂ’s home game against Tottenham will be a more open affair and I am confident that Man Utd will get their first win of the season. -

What i see is that Man Citeh's defense is good, they got Dunne, Richards and Corluka. And our players haven't really gelled together, not communicating well enough or not knowing what the other is gona do with the ball next. Sometimes pass the ball, but no one to receive it. -

expected from a derby match.. as always city can be such a pain the arse especially in their homeground.. but i wud have expected at least a draw from this fixture since we do have enuff players to cover in all department.. =X
nevertheless, its only 3 games, i expect United to bounce back really hard if we are to have any chance of defending our title..

I think we shouldn expect too much until at least we have our skipper and the full team back.More optimistic on Saha than Rooney i would say.But by then, if this team still cant hold on its own...

true. Spurs has never beaten Man U recently, but doesnt mean they wont beat them
