Soccer idol Wayne Rooney is having his £50,000 garden landscaped again - so he can get his lawn just like the turf at Old Trafford. The footballer brought back workman to rip up the old turf at his £4m mansion in Prestbury, Cheshire so it could be replaced by new grass and under soil heating - believed to be similar to that at the United stadium.
Wayne and fiancee Coleen McLoughlin, both 21, had spent tens of thousand of pounds on lawns and shrubs in the run up to their move to the prupose built property in December 2005.
But the garden became heavily scorched by last Summer's heatwave and it is feared the quality of the grass may have been permanently affected by the high temperatures.
Now contractors are back at the site putting in new turf and even under soil heating so Wayne can feel as though he is stepping onto the United pitch as he goes outside to prune his roses.
But Wayne and Coleen has made sure none of the workmen can peek in at his propertyater erectiong fencing around the main driveway.
One insider said: "The garden was badly scorched last summer and Wayne and Coleen thought it could be a good time to renovate it and get it up to the best standard possible.
"They have a great house but it needs to compliemented by a great garden.
"Wayne himself wants the grass to be as good as the turf at Old Trafford.
"Stepping out on the pitch is one of his biggest thrills and he wants to recreate that back home."
Rooney and Coleen waited 14 months to move into what will be their matrimonial home in and spared no expense in ensuring every aspect of the house was perfect.
One of the additions was a £30,000 state-of-the-art security CCTV system to stop peeping toms leering in.
The pan and tilt cameras stand outside the front entrance and each side of the house with further cameras at the back near Rooney's private tennis court.
The cameras are believed to have sensors which will pick up any movement up to 50 yards outside the house then automatically commit any footage on tape.
Rooney has seven plasma screen TVs in the house costing an estimated £40,000.
Wayne Rooney's house before the landscapers were called backBBC's Changing Rooms designer Laura McKee was behind the interior designs - which are believed to include Greek statues adorning the corridor.
Rooney - who grew up in a council semi in Croxteth, Liverpool - hired an eleven-strong squad of builders to work on his purpose built pad.
Work on the building began in October 2004 when Rooney demolished a 1930s mansion to make way for the Footballers'-wives-style home.
In the grounds Rooney spent £50,000 to turf and design the back and front garden.
And the Rooney mansion with the work taking place to upgrade the lawnIt features a specially built path which runs through a private wood to the footballer's own private sports stadium's private sports ground which will house a five-a-side football pitch plus basketball, tennis and badminton courts.
It is believed the all weather stadium had under-floor heating so Rooney will be able to top up his training skills at home with his Manchester United team-mates.
Looking at the front of the house, Rooney has a giant swimming pool with Jacuzzi on the far left.
On the right is a changing room then Rooney's own private cinema where he watches his favourite movies.
Past the hallway with sweeping staircase is a cloakroom and study before a doorway to a huge family room with conservatory and state of the art kitchen. Rooney's dining and living room looks over the back garden.
Soccer star Ashley Ward and his wife Dawn oversaw the building of the property through their successful construction and property development firm.
