Man Utd sell Rossi to Villarreal

Rossi spent time on loan at Newcastle and Parma last season.
Manchester United have sold striker Giuseppe Rossi to Spanish side Villarreal for an undisclosed fee. The six-year deal is subject to the 20-year-old American-born Italian passing a medical. Rossi was loaned to Newcastle last season and then to Parma, where he scored nine goals in 19 matches.
Villarreal were looking for a new striker after allowing Diego Forlan, another ex-United player, to join Atletico Madrid for £14m. United signed Rossi as a 16-year-old from Parma and the Italian club were keen to secure his services once again after the striker helped them stay in Serie A last season during his loan spell.
They reportedly tabled a £5.4m bid for the Italy Under-21 international, but failed to clinch a deal. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson often spoke highly of Rossi, who scored 13 times in 19 starts for the reserve team in his first season at Old Trafford.
He signed a new contract last summer, which would have kept him at the club until 2010, but his failure to earn a regular first-team place brought an early end to his United career. -

He better not be playing Dong and Rooney up front.
Hopefully he wont be playing Ronaldo up front with Rooney. Ronny is so much better at the wing. -

Anderson? i'v never seen him play before. Seen videos of him, but i feel he's still too inexperienced to be given the role to lead the line. -

"Gerard played 24 games for Zaragoza and did exceptionally well. We got all the videos of the players and watched what they did in training. They will certainly come back.
"Hopefully now we have a strong enough pool of players. That's one of the reasons I was keen to get the young lads who were away on loan last year back at the club.
"They will develop better with us. They may play more regularly away on loan, but training with us and being part of the squad brings them on immeasurably. " -

Not bad news la. We let go off alot of other reserves striking sensations like Webber and Healy for free! It's time to cash in on this one.
Furthermore, Dong is bought specifically for the Asian market. Need i to say more?

I can't agree more with dragg. He is too small size. His time at Newcastle showed that in the EPL he would be just another average striker. He don't seem like the type that will do well in the Premiership. Cos he don't seem aggresive enough and also lacking in upper body strength unlike some players like Tevez, Bellamy, etc... who may not be big but they have the aggression and a strong upper body strength to help them.
Actually i would even go the the extend and say it was a very good and shrewd deal by Fergie... Last season send him away on loan at the same time put him in the "window" for clubs to see and now they got a high price for one of their youth player...
Since it was reported that Parma had a £5.4m bid turn down so Villarreal probably had to offer something around $6m or more to close this deal. And here we have Alan Smith, a senior England international also going for around the same amount...
In a way, i feel their investment in Rossi was handsomely rewarded since they didn't pay much for him... -
he's a sharpshooter. but yeah his built is kinda small, and he doesn't have the pace of owen.

With Richardson, Rossi, A Smith & Heinze... Each roughly a $6m deal, United can recoup about $25m from all these fringe players...
