FIFA won't rule on Tevez
World football's governing body, FIFA, has recommended that West Ham and Carlos Tevez take the dispute over his future to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
Tevez and United have it clear that they would like his transfer from West Ham to be completed, but West Ham and businessman Kia Joorabchian are in dispute over ownership of the player.
The English FA and the Premier League had asked FIFA to rule on the matter after attempts to secure his transfer from Upton Park to Old Trafford reached an impasse.
"FIFA has recommended that West Ham and Carlos Tevez seek arbitration at CAS," read a statement football's governing body.
"Under the present circumstances this was deemed to be the best approach and in the interest of all parties. What is more, we also believe this to be the fastest way to solve this impasse."
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has said that he is prepared to be patient to get his man. "I'm confident about the Tevez situation," he said last week. "I'm happy to wait until the clearance comes through."
