Nani realises United dream
Now that Reds' new-boy Nani has finally made his debut, he admits it is a dream come true to be playing in a United shirt.
His rapid attacking play, well-taken goal and acrobatic celebration caught the eye on an impressive debut in the 6-0 victory over Shenzhen FC on Monday.
The 20-year-old's first outing as a United player have given him a taste of what is to come, and he believes he has found a club whose footballing philosophy perfectly suits his own.
"I like to play the sort of football Manchester United are famous for. It is so exciting to have joined this club," Nani was quoted as saying in The Sun.
"When you look at the manager, the players and the stadium, you can see why I did move."
The comparisons with Cristiano Ronaldo are almost unavoidable, but they don't seem to faze Nani, who hopes to grasp the opportunity to follow his countryman's rapid development under Sir Alex Ferguson.
"You look at the way Cristiano has grown as a player under Sir Alex. That is what I want to happen to me. To play next to him is like a dream for me."
