Sir Alex Ferguson has hinted that both Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes will remain at Manchester United for the long-term.
Giggs, whose contract is due to expire in 12 months, was the greatest worry for the Old Trafford faithful but United manager Ferguson has said the Welshman, and 32-year-old Scholes, can continue to play top flight football.
"The situation with them both is straightforward," said Ferguson.
"They are both fantastic professionals who have looked after themselves properly.
"I don't have any doubts about them. They are both going to be playing at a very high level well into their mid-30s, certainly next year and the year after."
United chief executive David Gill has recently said that new contract negotiations with Giggs, 33, were yet to get underway, but it now appears that the midfielder will have the opportunity to pursue Bobby Charlton's appearances record for the club.
Giggs is currently 43 games away from Charlton's record of 759 United appearances and he may now have the opportunity of reaching that total next season.
