Owen Hargreaves understands why Carlos Tevez is doing his utmost to secure a move to Manchester United.
Tevez is trying to negotiate his exit from West Ham United in order to clinch a switch to the Premier League champions, with the matter likely to be decided by Fifa.
The Argentine could join Hargreaves as a new addition to the United squad after the midfielder's transfer from Bayern Munich earlier in the summer.
Sir Alex Ferguson spent 12 months chasing the England international, who admits it is difficult to ignore interest from The Red Devils.
"I think sometimes these things are difficult," Hargreaves, who may not feature on United's pre-season tour of the Far East due to a knee injury, told Sky Sports News.
"Carlos Tevez is a fantastic player and he is obviously wanted by different people.
"It's tough to say who he plays for at the moment, or who owns him, I think those are things that need to be sorted out.
"Obviously, when the opportunity comes around for any player to join Manchester United then, whether you are Argentinian or English, every player would love the opportunity to play for Manchester United, and he's the same.
"I think any time Manchester United expresses an interest it's difficult for any player to refuse and I think Carlos Tevez is the same as myself. I think he's very keen on joining the champions of England.
"He had a fantastic season last year and hopefully he will be part of the squad, but we will see how things pan out.
"We have a fantastic group of players at the moment and with the squad we have we can be very pleased as well."
