Wayne Rooney is confident he could form an effective partnership with Carlos Tevez at Manchester United.
The Argentine striker is waiting to undergo a medical at Old Trafford, with current club West Ham United refusing to grant permission for the test to go ahead.
The Premier League champions still expect the transfer to go through and Rooney is looking forward to playing alongside Tevez.
"Tevez was unbelievable for West Ham in the second half of last season," said Rooney. "He did brilliantly in keeping them up.
"He will be a great signing for us and I'd really look forward to playing alongside him.
"I'm sure we could work out. Top players anywhere can work off each other.
"At United, we don't really play with two up front because we try and rotate and move, so it won't just be the two of us in attack.
"But it will be fantastic and I am very excited about the prospect."
Rooney also admitted he was happy to be back on the pitch after featuring in United's opening pre-season game against Urawa Red Diamonds on Tuesday.
He added: "I was really looking forward to playing again because this is the longest summer I've ever had off.
"It was six weeks in all. After the first couple of weeks I got bored and wanted to get back playing, so it was obviously nice to play.
"I'm delighted to be back in training and will hopefully stay fit throughout the summer and start the season really well."
