Their liaison came just hours after Atkinson was forced to come clean over her fling with Smith.
She admitted meeting him for secret trysts, although she insisted their relationship ended before she got together with Ronaldo over Christmas.
Atkinson, 22, told a Sunday paper: 'It is totally untrue to suggest I've cheated with Alan while I've been seeing Cristiano.'
A source close to Atkinson said: 'Gemma is riddled with guilt about having stayed silent. She really sees her future with Cristiano and has tried to keep it quiet because she understands how it might cause huge problems between them.'
