Sir Alex Ferguson has proudly declared that his side will remain true to their attacking principles and continue to play 'the Manchester United way' next season.
United regained the Premiership title last season after having been eclipsed by first Arsenal and then Chelsea on the domestic front - and Ferguson is happy that they continued to emphasise attacking football even when they were not winning trophies.
He believes their style of play is entertaining and made them popular champions last season, and he will be urging his team to play in the same manner as they defend their ninth Premiership title.
He has brought in two exciting young talents from Portuguese football - Nani and Anderson - and both enjoy reputations as crowd-pleasers.
Ferguson says he will be encouraging them to show what they can do on the ball.
"The modern game has changed so dramatically that it can be very difficult to uphold standards," Ferguson told the Daily Mirror.
"For example, the last two years have been difficult, yet we have still played the Manchester United way and worked our way to the top of the Premiership.
"That reflects the principles of this club.
"Last season we scored 83 goals in the Premiership. To score that many in the modern game is phenomenal."
