Young star poised to pen dealBen Foster is expected to sign a new contract at Manchester United this week despite being set for a long spell on the sidelines.
The England international goalkeeper has returned to Old Trafford following a two-year spell at Watford and was hoping to challenge number one Edwin van der Sar for the starting berth next season.
But the 24-year-old, who was handed his international debut in a friendly against Spain in February, suffered a cruciate knee ligament problem and could now be sidelined until the new year.
Despite the injury, United are keen to get the highly-rated shot-stopper signed up to a new long-term contract, which some reports claim will be worth up to £10,000 a week.
The player's agent, Lee Payne, revealed: "I'm sure the boy's progress will be reflected in the offer put before us. Ben's very upbeat about everything."
