Reports in England had suggested that Manchester United were looking to bid for Samdoria striker Fabio Quagliarella, and the player's agent has confirmed the interest. He has had a solid season for Samp, but has caught Europe's attentions after his stunning brace on his Azzurri debut against Lithuania.
A report in the Daily Express this rsuggested that Unted were willing to offer £10m for him after the doubts over Luis Saha's situation.
Those suggestions have now been confirmed by the Quagliarella's agent, Silvio Pagliari.
"One month ago, Manchester United made an offer of 10 million pounds (around 15m euros)," he said.
"We think that Fabio is worth between 15 and 20 million Euros.
"Therefore, if the English offer remains, he will probably go across the [English] Channel."
Udinese and Sampdoria - who jointly share his registration - have supposedly agreed to let him go if a good offer comes in.
Both want around 10 million euros, so a 20m fee has been quoted, but it is understood that a realistic offer in the region of 15m will be accepted.
However, the clubs have chosen to remain cautious until an offer is actually tabled, with Samp general director Beppe Marotta saying: "We canÂ’t make any evaluations now, but we want to keep him here, also because of the excellent relationship we have with Udinese
"We would only consider letting him leave if we were to receive an extraordinary offer."
