2+ refers to dipositive ionic charge. So the dipositive Fe2+(aq) is an Fe(II) species.
There is no such thing as Fe+2, and Cambridge will penalize for writing such nonsense.
Example of such nonsense is seen in this '4x thumbs down' reply by 'Zhi Li', whose Chemistry Fail.
