Getting more sleep should be your priority, not the JC, which doesn't matter as much as your own determination and perseverance. Also, don't be complacent : you won't be the only big fish in that small pond. Many other students will also have the same idea as you, and many 10+ pointers will also enter into YJC and the other neighbourhood JCs to be big fishes in small ponds (although to say 6 pointers are rushing to enter MI for this purpose is a bit too much of an exaggeration).
So don't think it'll be a piece of cake to be the top 5% in YJC or any neighbourhood JC, just because your L1R5 is a few points lower than the JC's cut off point.
Thank you for the sound advice, I'll keep that in mind especially the not to be complacent part! The thing is, I know that I'm not very self-driven and may not be determined enough (since I still don't know what I'm aiming for at uni) and am afraid that I'll be affected by the people surrounding me... Should I still go for shortest distance (and hopefully find people who are as motivated to study as me?? and find ways to motivate myself) or other school where there may be a larger number of more motivated people so in a way they influence me and make me more motivated?? Sorry for all these questions aaah

Regardless of which JC you get into (from RJC to MI), for your H2 subjects, find a good tuition. Not only will your fellow tuition students be highly motivated (hence making your learning more conducive compared to at school), but with good guidance from a good tutor, you'll excel in your H2 subjects, and you'll get to enjoy being the biggest fish in your small pond.
hi.... created an account because i am going crazy.
So in short, I am facing a very very very different situation than most people here.
I did not take my O levels in 2016, in fact it is during the previous year, 2015. So yeah I am currently 17 turning 18. Currently a TP year 1 student now.
I am seriously considering to go to JC but I aint sure, if i can attain AAA/A LOL.
My 2015 result was this:
Eng - B3
E Math, Combined Sci(Phy/Chem), DnT - A2
Combined Humans (Hist) - A1
POA - B3
Chi - B4 (i really suck at chinese.)
L1R4 - 10-2
L1R5 - 13-2
As u can see, the problem is
1. I did not take A maths
2. Ive been away from sec sch for 1 year
3. I want to go to science stream because i still want to open my choice to Medicine.
4. I thought my current course was what i wanted but.... IDK LOL my gpa was 3.64.
YJC is the only jc i can try because of my lack of A maths. And i happen to get distinctions for EMath & Combined Science (H2 Math pre-requisite)
HONESTLY HONESTLY I am going crazy. Its either I try to transfer from poly to YJC which is probably super tough and idk how to do so
or I transfer to accountancy/biomed course
or i suck it up in my current course and aim for Biz degree in uni.
how. otteoke. RIP i need advice T.T my new year resolution is to not have any more regrets

But... But.. I'm very far from your Funland hahah
Can I ask if the reason behind you putting sleep as first priority is because you've tutored loads of sleep-deprived students? ;0
But thank you once again! Got my thoughts sorted out, trying for Anderson first, choices afterwards will be according to distance. Thank you so much!

If you fail to do so, then try to transfer to BioMed course or Accountancy (whichever you can get into, though careers are very different so choose carefully which to transfer into).
If you fail to do so, then "suck it up in my current course and aim for Biz degree in Uni".
There, I settled for you liao. Swee boh? ;Þ
Help please! I'm interested in CJC currently cause of its CCA and also curriculum. Anyone from CJC maybe can let me know if i don't meet the requirements of taking F maths, can i still take? I'm a combined science student and i score all A1s in both math and science ( physics chem ). However, the requirements for F maths other than distinctions in math, but also at least C6 in physics.
Now, I have the choice of either going with that which is a low possibility or go with H2 econs math physics and H1 chem. Do you think it's a wise choice to take H2 econs and also H1 chem? any students that took H2 econs can let me know how it feels like? I'm scared i'm not interested in econs and as econs requires a lot of writing, my english isn't that good and i'm scared i cannot make it. I read through the syllabus and found it uninteresting though. Any opinions?

Sleep Deprivation --> Brain Damage ---> Lower IQ ---> Worse A level results.
No prob, if in future got suitable opportunity to join my tuition, feel free to PM me :)

i really want to take f maths and also im in combined science so cant take H2 sciecnes in cjc. any idea if can like appeal into a course or something?

If CJC won't allow it, try inquiring with other JCs.
Are you sure (it's up to you of course, but be sure you know what you're getting into) you'd rather take H2 Math + H2 Further Math, instead of H2 Math + H2 Chem? Taking H2 Chem will open more doors for you in Uni, compared to H2 Further Math.

I'm not that interested in medicine and more of route towards a math degree. Is H2 physics and H2 math sufficient?

May I know if econs is hard to ace? I'm quite scared because econs seems quite difficult and i'm worried i cannot make it. Any brief overview on it? And also, if possible, can explain a bit on the AAA/B kind of thing in A lvls? I don't quite get the grading system..

What about the grading system you don't get? Not very different from O levels.
If you're referring to the NUS / NTU / SMU / etc Indicative Grade Profiles, the X X X / Y refers to your H2 H2 H2 / H1 grades, assuming you score at least a C grade for GP and PW. Note that some courses, eg. Law, requires an A grade in GP.

St. Andrews2. Temasek3. Meridian4. CatholicI only went to catholic junior college open house but I didn't quite like it . I'm not sure about the other schools that's why I'm seeking help here . Should I take the risk by putting St. Andrews and temasek as my top choices because the score for both is 9 . Meridian and catholic is 10 but I have bonus points for catholic . I'm also planning on taking the science stream although my science is not good because my humans is very bad only my social studies is good . Should I put meridian as my first choice , a lot of people say meridian jc is not very bonded ? I'm not very sure but how should I rank the order of my choices ?
Put MJC as your 1st choice, CJC as your 2nd choice. Distance (ie. more sleep) is the most important factor, and you stay in Pasir Ris. CJC as a 2nd choice is a safety net since you've affiliation bonus points. You've no chance for SAJC and TJC, because cut-off points have to be strictly enforced, non-DSA appeals are useless.
Should I take h2 bio or h2 econs??Im pretty sure I can do better for econs but I'm also pretty sure bio is more essential

You don't need Econs at A levels to take Econs in Uni.
Taking H2 Chem + H2 Bio will open you to all non-engineering Science courses in Uni, including Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, etc.
The choice is clear.

If you can't get into these top poly courses, then try out JC. In other words, don't put a easier-to-get-into poly course into your choices, if you're not committed to these courses and future careers. Only put the poly courses which you really want, ie. accounting and finance, and if you don't get into these, then go the JC route.
Would it be adivsable to put Pioneer JC as my first choice? bc after deducting all the cca & hcl pts I just met the cop.

Yes, you should do that.
Ok, thank you, but I'm still hesitating bc of the distance between PJC & where i live (sengkang)

Only TPJC which I can reach within an hr

I heard A is 20, B is 17.5 , C is 15 and so on. If I want to get into that uni course, other than the grades, would the points be considered as well? Cause the required grades for GP and PW are not stated. So, if i score the minimum grade and C for both GP and PW, is there a high chance I can get in?
Oh and also, for the MT scores in JC1 right, are they considered in the uni courses as well?
