Hi i am a just an ordinary student studying at some neighborhood school.
i am really worried for N-Level.
2016 like the whole level do so badly sia, 30 people projected to be retain.
Then my teacher attend meeting abt this lorh. Then got this table with list of names who might retain
the table also show how many percent to be promoted to sec 4 in 2017. some people like need 104% to be promoted :x like no hope liao.
heng i nvr fall into these categories. The class like all dont want to study liddat. Really worried that might affect me haiz. My POA teacher also teach in a incoherent manner.
I want to aim for poly foundation program .. requirements are English grade 3 and above. Maths grade 3 and above. In addition to this.. the point need to be 11 and below
my sec 2 results like shit but i manage to improve tremendously in sec 3.
My End of Year For sec 3 is like
EL : 2
Maths : 5
Combined sci : 1
combined humanities : 1
POA : 1
So EMB3 = 10 points lorh
But i know the teachers in my sch purpsoely set the paper easy one as the level already doing damn horrible. I m scared that i cant pull my maths grade to 1 in such short time before N - Levels .. Btw the english teachers are forced to mark leniently if not more will be retained zz i dont even know my true results now.
I know N level markers from UK will mark strictly .. damn worried now
And my Maths zz i from young age hated maths LOL. Bobian need to start pulling it back to grade 1 zz i dont know if i can achive it or not before n-level >.<
so stress right now.. tmr start lesson le >.<
maths got no strict or not bcos right is right, wrong is wrong
method marks and answer marks awarded according to what u have done
u shd aim to do Os
Why olevel
why PFP?
Because
1) Safe. I dont think i can study olvl things in less than one year. I dont want to waste my time on sec 5 and fail then straight to there
2) Second fastest. 1 year foundation 3 years poly normal. Compared with DPP 2 year higher nitec 3 year poly .
3) N level result won't be wasted. I know a guy who can go poly using DPP OR PFP straight away. He decided not to do that. End up flunking olvls and go to ite
4) I heard NA Students mostly go sec 5 because of wanting to go JC.
5) employers will look at ur highest qualification rather than ur olvl cert. Why risking going sec 5 which is harder in terms of syllabus. Notable examples like English Expresspapers that are quite chim and tricky then just going direct poly using PFP
6) I m not the study type of guy. I rather have course than study subjects.
7) Will not have any people from express trying to compete with me for a spot in poly if i use olvl cert to apply.
Say ur reasons lorh dont answer me back with a question. I only want to know why
wow. u "heard" a lot of things
Then u enlighten me lorh that why i not sure i asking here mah then create sg forum account for what. After 2 post still havent even help me LOL.
seems like u oredi made the decision
just want assurance or share the responsibility with others
final advice: go with what makes u sleep well at nite
ps: i helped. but u no accept. so there.
You said i shd aim to do Os . Why are there any pros and cons?
1) Safe. I dont think i can study olvl things in less than one year. I dont want to waste my time on sec 5 and fail then straight to there
-- u think only. u haven't try. O and N syllabus diff is add-ons and a couple of extra topics. not totally new stuff. ur results are not too bad. so why so no confidence?
2) Second fastest. 1 year foundation 3 years poly normal. Compared with DPP 2 year higher nitec 3 year poly .
-- 1 yr do Os, go poly 3 yrs. same. DPP to poly for some courses can skip 1st year. same.
3) N level result won't be wasted. I know a guy who can go poly using DPP OR PFP straight away. He decided not to do that. End up flunking olvls and go to ite
-- that is him only. too complacent so did not bother in sec 5. i can tell u how many more did well in Os and moved on to better places. in the end top the diploma course somemore.
4) I heard NA Students mostly go sec 5 because of wanting to go JC.
-- NA students go Sec 5 so they can go to poly. of couse, there are some who are willing to put in hard work so they can try for JC. even if can't go any, there is still ITE. and it does not stand for "it's the end"

5) employers will look at ur highest qualification rather than ur olvl cert. Why risking going sec 5 which is harder in terms of syllabus. Notable examples like English Expresspapers that are quite chim and tricky then just going direct poly using PFP
-- employers see the minimum O level cert. risk or not depends on whether u willing to put in hard work. haven't go to the battlefield already surrendered.
6) I m not the study type of guy. I rather have course than study subjects.
-- you think course no need study? more readings and work than sec sch. and brand new concepts to learn, brand new teaching and learning style. u think u can cope better?
7) Will not have any people from express trying to compete with me for a spot in poly if i use olvl cert to apply.
-- eh? wat u trying to say? there is always competition, no matter which path u choose. the various dip in poly got quota for each cohort.
sometimes some ppl need to take the longer route
but if the longer route takes u to a better place, why not?
Many sec 5 students that chose JC eventually end up in a local university if they are willing to put in the work and study effectively.
I am sec 5 this is year and I last year take n levels I want to say. It's TOO easy. I had 20+ score for sec 3 and 19-20+score for sec 4 mid year and prelim. Only need study for humans the rest u know means u know. When I start sec 4 I aim 18points for dpp. Prelim I got 19points (no study) I aimed to get 15points for n level at least. Studied only humanities everything came out got 11points. COULD HAVE WENT TO PFP. but my English teacher suck so bad until I got b4 for English can't go so now I'm in sec 5 worrying about o levels. And thinking back. N levels was a piece of cake no need study also can score well. With your score can go pfp but if u really really good go sec 5 cuz I done research o level cert got MUCH MUCH more advantage than n level cert. For example when u grow up join a company. The company need u to learn new skills to upgrade yourself then they send u to go to course, the minimum criteria for those courses is at least an o level cert and if u want go University o level cert 20% of admission criteria. Even though u see me type all this right if I can go pfp I still will go
dont blame the teacher
i thought last year nlevel not bad?
