Hi does anyone have experience of working while studying in poly?I am currently in 1st year poly (Just started) and I intend to work 2 day per week however I am afraid that I cant cope both study and work at the same time. I am aiming for gpa 3.5+ and would like to ask is it tough in 1st year poly? In my opinion right now poly is quite slack only have to attend 3~6 hour a day depending on which day so even If I work for 2 day I still have quite alot of time left. But I am only on my 2nd week of poly so can anyone with experience on this give me some advice.
Look at places that hire poly students. This means that they are very very familiar with how a poly student's timetable is like and will most likely be very accomodating when it comes to scheduling you. Places like The Daily Scoop, Boost, Island Creamery, Night Safari, most of your froyo shops, have high amounts of schooling employees.
Don't want to sugar coat it for you - but it's not going to be slack all the way. Of course a 3.5 GPA is possible for your first sem, but it comes with working hard, how difficult your course is, and managing your time. If you're the kind that always needs to study to do well, then make sure you are very disciplined with your time. If you know you're the super slack kind, then I advise you against a part time job lah.
I worked part time while I was in my second to final year of poly. I started working during my holidays and it spilled over to school. I would then ONLY work on days where I didn't have school the next day (mostly weekends) Told them to stop scheduling me whenever I had exams coming up/project work. I quit because I started internship and I couldn't commit anymore. During the semesters that I was working, my GPAs were 3.33 and 3.45. And this was with me working my butt off if I wasn't in school.
.
Depends on your course?
I worked throughout all 3 years of poly, no problem. Graduated with 3.60 GPA. I think it's totally doable. But be prepared to give up a big part of your social life (if you want to earn money and do well in school).
hm...but I heard the poly schedule is quite not fixed, so how do you find a job that can match your irregular schedule? And is it possible/manageable to got a part time job, cca and study at the same time? I am a sec 4 this year so need some advice here. Thanks!

Work and study is always tough.
But u get knowledge, certs and $ at the same time.
If u can handle that lifestyle, go ahead.
depends whether are you able to cope with it?
Well I guess the best is to focus on your studies. if there isn't any financial difficulties.
Perhaps you can try teaching tuition, definitely flexible and you can manage your own work schedule
