  Hi guys, can help me out on this p5 problem sum?

   

  Daniel had $144 more than Ryan at first. After Daniel gave $342 to Ryan, Ryan had 3 times as much as Daniel. How much did they have altogether?

  If u can visualize the bars shown by Pillows,
  2 units = (342-144) + 342
  4 units = 2x [(342-144) + 342] = 2x 540 = 1080
