hi ... I need some advice on what to do with my results...
I have a total of L1R5 of 17-2=15....
Eng : C6
Combine humanities : C5
Amath : B3
Emath : B3
Biology : B3
Geography: B3
Chinese : A1
Combine Science : A1
CCA : A1
Without english, it will be 11 points. Right now, i am not sure whether i have a chance to go to CJC ( I am affilated there) or even TPJC. With my results, should i appeal? I have never scored C for english before...my english is always B4. Do you think there will be a possibility of me getting into those schools if i appeal? I really do not want to go to a poly. Are we suppose to appeal after posting or while we are choosing our schools? Should i put TPJC as my first choice or CJC? and when we are keying our choices of schools, do you know whether they will look at our subject grade?
I am so sorry for asking so many questions but thanks and please help!
Hi, I just received my O level results and I extremely need some advice ;( I really want to get into a JC (Science stream) but my L1R5 is 17 (Net L1R5 - 15) . I feel like my results are fairly okay but my Combined Humanities (SS/Lit) is a C6. I live in the East so I hope to get into TPJC even though I think the chances are very low even after deducting CCA 2 points. How are my chances to get into any JC Science stream, and if I were to appeal into TPJC, would my chances be better since the science stream isn't heavily dependent on Humanities?
My results are:
English - B3
Combined Humans - C6
Maths - A1
AMaths - A1
Physics - B3
Chemistry - B3
POA - B4
MT - C6

I will strongly advise against taking H2 Maths w/o A maths background. Some A maths topics are extremely important as the foundation for H2 maths
Differentiation for A maths forms the foundation for differentiation for H2 Mathematics; basic integration taught by A maths leads onto H2 mathematics integration (standard forms, by substitution, by parts) which then leads onto area and volume of revolution.
If thre isn't strong foundation, it's very difficult to catch up as JC tends to assume knowledge of A maths when teaching.
That's said, H1 maths isn't that easy either, it's the same difficulity in terms of question per say (at times, H1 maths questions can be harder than H2, same as other subjects like Chemistry also) but half the breadth which fortunately gives you more time to adapt to the syllabus.
H2 maths is not a prerequistic for courses like law, business and etc, so ponder carefully your future before making any decisions
However, if you are bent into doing H2 maths, I wish you all the best but spend these few weeks reading up on A maths (especially calculus and trigometry - ignore geometry).
Just my 2 cents worth and yupp still PM eagle

Originally posted by Boplek:Hello everyone, I received my o level results and I'm pleased to say the least. My raw l1r5 is 9 and after deduction its 7. I have the choice to either go to meridian JC or Victoria JC( -4 for vjc due to affiliation). Tampines JC, however, is 5 minutes from my house and apparently distance is a very important factor in choosing a JC. Any advice on what school to choose? Thanks in advance.
if you want a more fun culture (stereotyping alert!), choose VJC. Service 31 does reach VJ and it takes about 50 minutes to reach also, many of my classmates / school mates stay in tampines also). Otherwise, TPJC will be good but it is more on the task kind.

sorry i quoted wrongly. Sorry!!
anyway, where do you stay? region ? distance is quite important also.

You can try your luck in getting H2 Mathematics if you didn't manage to take Additional Mathematics in secondary school, but be warned that such acts are indeed risky if unprepared and that you will need to meet a specific promotional criteria if you intend to continue on. Coming from YJ who got the same grades as you and obtained H2 MA and H2 PH conditionally, you will need to obtain an "E" grade in the subjects that you have appealed in order to continue on this combination of yours. The marking scheme in YJ H2 MA department has been tweaked slightly, placing a whooping 70% in Block Tests (15%) and Promos (55%), meaning that you need to place a lot of effort in your examinations or lose your combination. I am not kidding on that part.
Regardless, subject combinations in YJ are pretty lenient since they give plentiful opportunities to many students who appealed for their desired combinations (i've seen some before). You can test it out and see if it is your cup of tea since it is undeniable that the jump between E. Math and H2 Math is huge. Regardless, good luck getting into the course of your choice! :)
Guys thanks for the advice. So if i want to take H2 math and sciences should i put my science stream for jc as my first few choices in the JAE?
pls share subject grades n where u stay also in order for others to recommend sch

yes . 10 char
For all who are tyring private A level, DO NOTE
YOU CANNOT take Private and School the same year, it must be PRIVATE in NS / post graduate from JC and School first, if you try doing both in 1 year, all your private ones will be void
NUS/NTU/SMU allows 1H2/H1 contrasting subject to be taken not with the rest, and the 3H2 (or H1s) + GP must be taken within 1 single sitting. Exception is that GP for law can be taken separately to reach the B requirement but your UAS will still based on GP taken within the single setting. (you can also take SAT Reasoning, 700 + for verbal based sections)

Hi!
I took N'Level last year with Emaths as an O'Level subject. I got 10 points for 4 N'Level subjects which was eligible for PFP. So I went to DPP for a short while, being confident that I would definitely get at least a B3 for my Emaths. But when I took my Emaths results today, I got C5 (equivalent to 2 points) and that I got 12 points altogether (no longer eligible for PFP). After knowing this, I have lost my mood to study at DPP. Should I appeal back to Sec 5?

i will incline more to SRJC if distance isn't a problem for you, which town you are staying in?

Thanks for the reply. May i know why? Actually it is equidistant from my house to SRJC or TPJC

But i can't go SRJC... results not good enough...D: I am not sure if i can appeal and try to get in... since i got 2A1s, all B3 and the only subject with C6 is english... As a result, 17-2 = 15...
