Hello, as the title states, I need some advice on passing clb, I've always depended on luck for my CLB exams since sec 1, and it so happened that in my whole sec 3 year, I failed terribly. I can barely read and write easy characters, like the basic stuff. For oral, I can't understand what the teacher is saying sometimes. The only thing I can barely pass is my compo, because its on a computer and I can bull$h*t my way out. However, next year is already my O'levels, I really cannot depend on luck, I want to enter a JC as I am unsure of which science I want to major in, and going to poly would really limit my options, as such, I need some tips. Please help!
Yea, I'm really desperate haha
CLB is chinese language B, like a special programme for those who can't cope with normal chinese
You have to expose yourself more to the chinese language. Watching chinese shows can be a start to garner your interest in the subject
Start reading chinese newspaper may be a good start.
I am in CLB but i don really study much as i may not be able to write nor read but i can at least speak it
Study hard
Just learn basic vocabulary that'll do . I didn't take CLB but I took TLB and my Tamil is really atrocious but I do have like basic vocabulary that I can use and that's what I did and I somehow managed to pass . The Mcq and all just try your best .
Buy the thick chinese compo books, categorize them into themes e.g. family, technology, environment etc. Highlight the useful phrases and memorize them!!!
Ask your chinese teachers for notes and consult them when u hv any qns. When they see that ur putting in effort they will definately go the extra mile to help you. This applies for all subjects.
Also buy and do your tys over and over cuz u know what kinds of qns will b asked n how to ans them to get the marks.
As fr reading n writing maybe u can consider borrowing pri sch chinese textbooks to practice. My friend did that diligently and his chinese improved by leaps and bounds. When it comes to language consistency is the key so try n integrate chinese into ur life whenever possible!
Oh towards my chi Os my lao shi conducted daily oral practices before assembly so maybe u can go w a grp of friends to meet up w yr teacher. That helped alot as well.
Hope this helps n all da best fr yr Os!!!
Perhaps watch more chinese news and watch chinese dramas
