help for my p6 boy

  Hi people, my boy is currently in P6 and is having difficulty in solving these questions. Anybody could help me out with it?

  1) Tank A has a base measuring 70cm by 16cm. 

  It contains 25200cm3 of water. 

  tank B has a square base of length 40cm. 

  It contains water up to a height of 8cm. the water in tank a is then poured into Tank B until the water level in both tanks is equal.

  (A) what is the water level in tank b at the end?

  (b) if more water in tank A is poured into Tank B until the water is twice the height of the water in tank A, find the height of water in tank B then.

  (give your answer to 2 decimal places)

   

  2) In a maths test Ali scored 1/6 as many marks as bibi. cathy scored 1/15 of the total marks scored by the 3 children altogether. if ali scored 60 marks more than cathy, how many marks did bibi score?

  Tank A volume = 25200, height = 22.5

  Tank B water volume = 40x40x8 = 12800

  
  

  Total volume = 25200+12800 = 38000

  height[(70x16)+(40x40)] = 38000

  height[2720] = 38000

  height = 13.97 cm

  water level in tank b = 13.97cm

   

   

  z(70x16)+2z(40x40)=38000 

  2z=height of water in tank b=17.60 cm

  
  

   

   

  Number 2 may be wrong, for I didn't really understand what it means by " 1/6 as many marks as bibi", I presumed Ali score is 1/6 of bibi score.

   

  C=1/15[A+B+C]

  A=C+60

  A=1/6B, B=6A, 

  B/6=C+60

  B=6C+360

  
  

  C=1/15[1/6B+B+C]

  14C=7/6(B)

  12C=B=6C+360

  C=60

  B=720

  Perhaps I can compute when you get married:

  Born in 1987, having a 12yo child, and you get married at 15yo, that's pretty young.

  Hi,

    We could use the units method to solve Q2.

    Ali: 1u

    Bibi: 6u

    Cathy: 1u - 60

    Now

    1u - 60 = (1/15)(1u + 6u + 1u - 60)

    ...

    1u = 120

    6u = 720

    Bibi scored 720 marks.
