hi all,
I'm currently a year 1 student at NP. I'm considering on withdrawing from my current course because I don't have any interest in it. (FYI I chose my course out of thinking prospects > passion/interest... which is what I regret doing right now)
So my plan is to withdraw from my course now, take up a part time job in the mean time before I start schooling again next year.
My question is, is it hard for a poly drop-out to readmit into a poly course via DAE? I'm pretty afraid of the chances that I might be stuck with just an O level cert forever... Hence, I want to ask if any of you had such experiences (readmission as a ex-poly student) that you're willing to share with me
Thank you all in advance for your experiences/advices

If possible change to a course with passion and interest than quitting and joining again.

I've asked the admin office, they said that currently all courses are full..... i guess i have to wait till next year to transfer and that's if my GPA is good enough to be ensured for a transfer.
It is generally more advisable to ask for an internal transfer (transfer to another course within the same poly) instead of applying through DAE. This is because JAE applicants have priority and fewer places are set aside for DAE. Even if you meet the COP for the course, you might not be able to get into a course via DAE if there are no vacancies. If you have excellent results then you might stand a better chance. If your results are not so good, you might have to settle for less popular courses or the courses with large intake if you apply through DAE.
For DAE, they only allow you to have 3 to 4 choices per poly
For internal transfers, you would usually need to have good exam results in poly and your O Level results must also meet your desired course's cut off point in the year which you are transferring

My L1R4 is 15.. 13 after I minus the 2 points from CCA. Don't know if that's good enough to have more chances in DAE. I can only wait until I finish my exams & get my GPA before I can try to transfer.. But knowing that NP courses are so popular..I don't think I have a great chance of course transfer in ngee ann. Haiz.

Which course are you applying for next year?

If I'm transferring internally, it would be hospitality and leisure facilities mgmt or tourism and resort mgmt (which I don't think my transfer will be successful if I chose TRM since I can't meet it's cut off point).
If I'm going for DAE then
for SP : integrated events & project mgmt, hotel & leisure facilities mgmt, tourism & resort mgmt (can't meet cut off point for TRM though.. Might replace my 3rd choice with something else)
for TP : hospitality & tourism mgmt, leisure & resort mgmt, culinary & catering mgmt
for NYP : hospitality & tourism mgmt, banking & finance, business mgmt
for RP : integrated events mgmt, hotel and leisure resort mgmt, human resource with psychology
For NP internal transfers, the form is available at http://www.np.edu.sg/aa/grade/pages/notices.aspx#appeals . The Director of your current School has to indicate whether he/she supports or does not support your transfer and then the Director of the Receiving School decides whether to approve or reject your transfer
If you're applying through DAE next year, apply to all polys to maximise your chances and then you could pick which course to enrol in if more than one poly accepts you. I would also advise you to choose a poly which is not too far away from your house. Travelling for a long time could be tiring/boring and you would have less time to do homework.
If you really want to enrol in those courses which you can't meet the COP, you might want to consider retaking some O Level subjects. 15 for raw L1R4 means you have an average of B3, it isn't that bad. You don't need to retake all your subjects. You can combine your O Level results from any two years. The late registration for O Level private candidates is still available till 14 May 2014.
Also take note that RP uses the PBL system. You have to do group discussions and presentations everyday and your Daily Grades count toward your module grades. If you are the shy type or don't like to talk much, then other polys might be more suitable for you.
