Last Jan I enrolled in ITE under the DPP programme which uses N(A) lvl cert with Higher Nitec Accounting. I am just curious if there is other routes other than poly in Singapore or overseas? I heard that its not easy to enter poly and the minimum gpa is at least 3.6 for rp and even higher for other poly. Recently I have been going in and out of hospital very often because of my medical condition and I'm just got back from sch this wed after being admitted for 4 days and I missed out alot of stuffs and the workload thrown to me was like wow, seems like its gonna be a tired weekend. I'm very stressed out about this.. I have been going into to hospital for 4 times during this 4 months once a month and I'm afraid it will still go on and I will miss out a lot of work.
I don't want to end up having a ite cert being my highest education. If I cant get the gpa to go poly is there other routes if I can't make it to poly?
Hi,
See https://www.ite.edu.sg/wps/portal/definitely-des/ for the minimum GPA. It's ≥ 3.0 GPA for Business & Services courses and ≥ 2.5 GPA for Applied Sciences, Engineering and Info-Communications Technology courses.
I suggest that you speak to a lecturer or counsellor from your school about your situation and they might be able to help you
Hi does that mean that I don't have to compete with the other higher nitec students which are not from dpp or we are entering under the same admission exercise?
As long as you meet the minimum GPA, you would get a place in poly. Those who are not from DPP would have to apply under JPAE - http://www.polytechnic.edu.sg/jpae/

Can try go to private schools or just come out and work.
Don't give up just yet! You've probably just started your ITE course. Sorry to hear about you having to go to the hospital so often, but hope that doesn't pull you down and only makes you stronger.
Try your best for now and aim to do well. If you can't get into a local poly, you can always take up private diploma and even degree (as you move along). There are numerous recognised private schools which are offering such diploma and degree courses. Stay positive and hope you get well soon!
