It is very important to sit with your book at least once in a day during a fixed time. The ideal way to bring a sense of discipline in your being is by devoting time to studies, because this is easiest thing that one can do. All you have to do is just sit with your books and go through them. Initially it might prove to be tiresome if you have not inculcated this as a habit from your childhood, but gradually with time everything will fall into place. However, we need to perform when it comes to our studies. We do need to shine in the tests conducted to check our academic quotient, not to prove anything to anybody but just to boost our own self-confidence. So, if you want to do so you need to concentrate while you are studying, because with so many distractions it is very easy to lose focus these days.
Choose appropriate place & time
Select your own hours when you want to sit for your studies. Opt for an early morning study session if you are a morning person, or a few hours in the night if you feel more comfortable studying when there is peace and quiet and nobody is around to distract you. If you are really serious about concentrating on your studies then make sure that you chose the right place to study. Ideally your own home or your hostel dormitory makes the ideal places while a friend’s place is never actually a good idea in the long run.
Anticipate physical needs and make arrangements
Once you sit for your studies do not give yourself excuses to get up and get things like- water and food. It is essential for you to stay rooted to your spot if you really want to focus on what you are studying. When you study the brain craves for food from time to time. So sit with a bottle of water and a few health snack bars and munch them along whenever you feel hungry. This will actually help you to improve your concentration.
Get rid of distractions
The main enemy of focus is none other than distraction. The place and time that you chose for your studies will help you to largely get rid of all your distractions. It is also very important that your phone is either turned off or in silent mode when you study. Stay disconnected from the social media life for a few hours, give your virtual self a break- this will actually prove to be really beneficial.
Avoid unnecessary distractions
Phone calls, texts, Facebook or Twitter tweets are something that you can do without for a few hours. So, keep these at bay because they are simply unnecessary distractions and really hamper your concentration.
If focussing on your studies is your aim, then be serious about it. Choose the right time and place and be honest to yourself. Do not give excuses to drown yourself in distractions because they are something which never go away. Keep a one track mind while studying and you will find that it makes concentrating much easier.
